The Crookston City Council approved a resolution granting the Crookston Inn a temporary extension of its 2026 liquor license for up to 45 days to allow completion of a pending sale and time to pay property taxes and special assessments.
City staff said the liquor-license condition requires holders to be current on property taxes, special assessments and other financial obligations; due to delays in the sale the Crookston Inn requested extra time. “The Crookston Inn is requesting the city to approve their 2026 liquor license and a temporary extension up to 45 days to allow them additional time to pay their property taxes, special assessments, and any other financial obligations,” a staff member said.
Council asked whether the inn could request a further extension if the sale had not closed within 45 days; staff said the council could grant additional extensions if needed and that the city had discussed the timeline with seller and buyer, who were comfortable the sale would occur within the requested period. The council approved the extension by roll-call vote.
Next steps: staff will monitor the sale timeline and return to council if further action is requested.
