County staff: due diligence complete on Columbia Avenue parcel; campaign signs removed from county property and taken to Elections office

During other business on March 25, property-management staff reported they have compiled county-owned property data and will present additional properties to the commission on March 30.
On the Columbia Avenue parcel under consideration, the property manager said the county has completed due diligence items including a survey and an environmental Phase I and that "Everything has has come out clean." He said an extension of the purchase contract this time may require earnest money, whereas a prior extension had not.
Staff also answered a committee question about campaign signs. The property manager said property-management handles signs on county-owned property by collecting them and delivering them to the Elections building for candidate pickup and identified Michael Madison as the contact; he said right-of-way enforcement and signs in county rights-of-way are not handled by property management.
Staff said they will continue presenting property options and coordinating next steps; no formal vote was taken on the Columbia Avenue parcel at the March 25 meeting.
