The Lincoln County Board approved several personnel and administrative items and received department updates at its May 19 meeting.
Commissioner Diane Path moved and Commissioner Lisa Poulsen seconded to hire a replacement Solid Waste Operator I at step 3104, with a start date of May 27; the motion passed unanimously. The board also approved adding April Bradshaw to the county District Attorney's credit card with a $3,000 limit and approved a letter for inclusion in the fair book correcting typos and noting the fair’s years in existence.
Department heads provided operational updates. Eric Holt and Crystal Romans presented call-volume data: Lincoln County ambulance EMS calls were reported at 7% (Pioche Fire 2%, Panaca Fire 1%, Caliente Fire 1%, Alamo EMS 3%), and total EMS was described as about 16% for 2024. Commissioners’ Administrative Assistant Denice Brown reported the county received more than $900,000 in CDBG funding for Airport Road; CDBG’s director will attend a ribbon-cutting in Caliente.
Planning/Building Director Cory Lytle said he received a volumetric survey from Sunrise and will forward it to NDEP as part of long-term planning; he also reported that TransWest is under construction in Wyoming and Utah and expects to begin work in Nevada in 2026, and that courthouse bids were due at 2 p.m. the day of the meeting. Clerk Lisa Lloyd noted she has hired a deputy and that DMV hours will be cut to two days per week beginning July 1.
What happens next: Personnel appointments take effect as noted; staff will proceed with CDBG project coordination for Airport Road and return contract or planning items to future agendas as needed.
