Oscoda County board adopts 2025 equalization report, confirms multiple appointments and approves sheriff body-camera agreement

The Oscoda County Board of Commissioners accepted the county’s 2025 Annual Equalization Report on April 22 and approved a package of routine appointments, staffing actions and a sheriff’s equipment agreement.

Amber Woehlert, the county Equalization Director, presented the report showing a total equalized value of $821,461,255; the board voted to accept the report and authorized the chair and county clerk to sign the document. Commissioners voted unanimously on the motion to accept the report.

On a series of motions the board confirmed appointments to the Oscoda County Veterans Affairs Board, filling multiple vacancies with staggered terms: Richard Landry (term through Dec. 31, 2025), Al Chaney and Roger Stitt (each through Dec. 31, 2026), Tim Whiting and Dennis Cooper (each through Dec. 31, 2027), and Brandon Anderson and Rich Hoffman (each through Dec. 31, 2028). Each appointment was moved, seconded and carried by roll call.

The board also acknowledged several personnel actions and seasonal hires including re-hires for county parks, fairgrounds and the Historical Commission, and approved recruitment to fill a full-time maintenance technician vacancy.

Sheriff Kann entered into a Master Services agreement with Axon Master Services to purchase body-worn cameras for $51,990, to be paid over five years beginning May 2025; the board acknowledged the agreement and directed payment from the sheriff’s capital equipment budget line. The motion to acknowledge the agreement carried unanimously.

The board approved the consent calendar and a set of budget amendments affecting multiple special fund and equipment lines, and received the claims and audit docket for April 22 reporting disbursements of $55,872.36.

The meeting adjourned at 11:36 a.m.; the board set its next regular meeting for May 13, 2025 at 10:00 a.m.
