Kimberly Davis, principal of Ola Edwards Community School and a Hillside resident and graduate, introduced scholars who performed music and recited a poem emphasizing inclusion and school pride.
Davis said the school’s work centers on four priorities: creating a safe learning environment, supporting academic growth, building community partnerships and promoting student leadership. She described programs such as Leader in Me assemblies, high‑impact tutoring, DIBELS literacy assessments and enrichment clubs like Girls Rock Science and Financial Literacy Club.
Davis highlighted a visit by Ruby Bridges, who engaged students in a question‑and‑answer session about courage and resilience, and noted community partnerships including an Angel Tree program that supported more than 1,000 families during the Christmas season. She closed by previewing upcoming events including the Ola Edwards Color Run and spring concert.
The presentation was followed by board appreciation and applause.
