Board member Mrs. Wilson announced that three students — Mallory Alwin (Northmoor Primary), D'Angela Washington (Markbills Middle) and Delilah Lawson (Rolling Acres Middle) — advanced to the global Amazing Shake competition in Atlanta. Dr. Nicole Molson, executive director, described the district’s regional event that produced 142 finalists and thanked donors Commerce Bank, Mike Murphy Auto Group and Sue Himes for sponsoring travel for finalists.
The board recognized kindergarten through fourth-grade Young Authors winners in a student showcase: several students introduced themselves and the titles of their stories while board members acknowledged their work. Director Tracy Doniff and curriculum staff coordinated the recognition.
Director of School Safety Demario Boone presented the "Remarkable Spirit" awards to seven crossing guards with service ranging from nine to 18 years, calling them protectors who ensure students arrive safely each day; one crossing guard accepted and described the pride of the role.
Athletics staff and principals honored the Rolling Acres Cougars junior varsity team and the Sterling Jaguars varsity team as 2025–26 city champions, listing scores and key players. AJ Guyton, district athletic director, and coaches introduced players and praised season records and coaching contributions.
Board members and attendees applauded the honorees; the recognitions were presented as part of the meeting’s awards and recognitions agenda items and did not require votes.
