District staff presented the new districtwide social‑emotional learning program, 7 Mindsets, and described how it will be implemented across grade levels and supported by professional development.
The presenter said the district selected a digital‑based 7 Mindsets curriculum for K–12 (excluding early childhood after local feedback). Elementary teachers will cover weekly 30‑minute components broken into daily pieces; middle‑school students will use digital life‑plan workbooks while elementary learners will receive printed copies; secondary students get lessons twice weekly. The district has trained staff, created 'mindset champion' roles (social workers and building administrators who meet quarterly with a coach), and staged a February in‑person refresher that included pairing 7 Mindsets with CHAMPS practices.
Implementation supports include summer and in‑year professional development, a district SEL 'playbook', monthly SEL resources, and an SEL week of activities in March. The presenter also described teacher‑created materials (mindset‑of‑the‑month charts, mindset money and referral systems) and stressed the program is intended to be flexible and updateable through its digital platform: “7 Mindsets is a digital based social emotional learning curriculum that works for all ages,” the presenter said.
What it means: the program is intended to provide a common SEL language, regular lessons and measurable supports districtwide; administrators said building champions and quarterly check‑ins will help the district monitor implementation fidelity and use rates.
Next steps: staff will continue quarterly virtual check‑ins, teacher coaching and use monitoring; administrators invited feedback from teachers and social workers to adapt materials and pacing.
