Bluff planning staff says building official resigned; Blanding City to provide temporary inspection coverage

Erin Nelson, Bluff town staff, told the Planning & Zoning Commission on April 2 that the town’s building official resigned on March 27 and the town has opened the position for applications, which are due April 12 at 5 p.m. Nelson said the role requires specific state-regulated certifications and that the town is accepting applicants accordingly.
Nelson said Blanding City will provide temporary emergency coverage for building inspections until Bluff hires a new building official. She advised landowners to continue following the normal building permitting process and to contact the Bluff building department if they plan construction or renovations.
Nelson also reported that Kristen Bushnell will continue to send the commission building permit tracking information but does not plan to attend P&Z meetings; Commissioner Caitlin McLennan requested that Bushnell attend a future meeting to explain zoning-code processes and permit workflows.
The town staff did not provide a name for an interim local inspector or a timeline for when a permanent hire will be made. Applications for the building official position are due April 12 at 5:00 p.m.; Nelson said she will advise the commission when further procedural details are available.
