Clinton County supervisors approve appointments, subdivision and two right-of-way sales

The Clinton County Board of Supervisors on Feb. 9 approved four resolutions and several routine motions, including two appointments, approval of a minor subdivision final plat and the sale of two small road right-of-way tracts in the unincorporated town of Bryant.
The consent agenda included Resolution 2026-28 appointing Laura Schaver as a Clinton County Medical Examiner Investigator, effective Feb. 13, 2026, contingent on State Medical Examiner approval. The resolution specifies compensation: a flat rate of $200 per call; an hourly rate of $26.00 for work over six hours with Emergency Medical Examiner approval; mileage reimbursement per county policy; and $26.00 per hour for training or justifiable work at the EMA’s discretion.
The board also adopted Resolution 2026-29 appointing Michael Crockett as the Clinton County Attorney appointee to the Clinton County Civil Service Commission, filling the vacancy created by the resignation of Tom McHugh. The board extended thanks to McHugh for his service and directed the county auditor to record the resolution.
In land-use business the board approved Resolution 2026-30, granting preliminary and final approval for the Tarchinski Subdivision (application 4552). The subdivision is described as located in the southwest quarter of the northeast quarter of Section 22, Township 81 North, Range 3 East; the chair was authorized to sign the final plat prior to recording.
Following a public hearing with no comments, the board approved Resolution 2026-31 vacating and selling two halves of a 38-foot county right-of-way adjacent to Lot 34, Block 1 in Bryant Original Town. Each tract (approximately 19 by 150 feet, or about 2,850 square feet) will be sold by quit claim deed to adjacent property owners: Tract A to Willis and Glorianne Greve and Tract B to Daniel and Sheryl Moraetes for $143.94 each. Purchasers are responsible for their own title work and legal fees.
The board also authorized a utility permit (No. 9-78-26) for Eastern Iowa Light and Power (REC) to set new poles and overhead span lines within county right-of-way along 265th Avenue in Section 02 T83N R03E, Bloomfield Township. In addition, the board approved a claims payment to Peanut Butter Inc. for $4,110.00 charged to the General Basic Fund. All recorded roll-call votes on the listed motions and resolutions were unanimous (Irwin: Yes; George: Yes; Srp: Yes).
The board recessed and later adjourned, scheduling its next meeting for Feb. 12, 2026 at 9:00 a.m.
