City seeks community input on mural for Tustin Family and Youth Center

The commission heard an update on a public-art mural at the Tustin Family and Youth Center. Director Clanton said artist Luis Barajas, who is local to Santa Ana, led a bilingual community input meeting on Feb. 4 and is developing two to three design concepts for review at a follow-up meeting.
Clanton described the site (stucco walls adjacent to the trash enclosure) and said the mural project is intended to reflect community imagery, themes and values gathered during input sessions. The next public meeting is scheduled for the 20th (staff gave the date in the slide) where the artist will present concepts and the community will be invited to comment.
Commissioners were encouraged to attend the next input meeting. Staff noted the project includes outreach to Spanish-speaking residents and that the artist will incorporate community feedback prior to final design selection.
