Apparent low bid for county crack sealing identified; award postponed for reference checks

The Duchesne County Commission opened eight bids for 2026 crack sealing on April 6; Jones & DeMille Engineering reported that Peckham Asphalt Paving, Inc. had the apparent low bid at $106,300 but asked for more time to contact references before the commission made an award.
Jeff Baker of Jones & DeMille Engineering said the apparent low bid was Peckham Asphalt at $106,300 and noted C & B Asphalt submitted a close second at $107,020. Baker asked the county to delay awarding the contract while staff and the engineering firm contact bidder references. The commissioners agreed to postpone final award until next Monday to allow those checks.
No motion to award the crack-sealing contract was made at the April 6 meeting. County staff and Jones & DeMille Engineering will report back with reference-check findings and a recommendation at the subsequent meeting.
