Maywood approves taser purchases, Segway servicing; body-camera procurement to be studied

The Maywood Board of Trustees on July 9 approved several Maywood Police Department equipment requests, including use of federal 1505 funds up to $5,994 to service department Segway equipment and authorization to purchase 12 tasers at a total not-to-exceed price of $8,937.50.
Chief Valdimir Talley Jr. presented the requests. The taser purchase motion was moved by Trustee M. Lightford and seconded by Trustee A. Sanchez; the minutes record that the board approved the purchase and that a total of 12 tasers would be ordered. The Segway service request was also approved for payment from federal funds.
Chief Talley also asked the board to approve continued research on outfitting officers with body-worn cameras; the board authorized further research into the non-budgeted item but did not approve a procurement at the July 9 meeting.
All equipment motions recorded in the minutes passed without a named opposing vote.
