Superintendent Munshi previews school‑year preparations, safety training and recruiting efforts

He also recounted recent active‑shooter trainings held at Gilroy High and Christopher High in partnership with the fire department and local police, and noted the trainings are annual exercises the district conducts with first responders.
Munshi announced staffing and safety transitions: Christopher High’s SRO Andrew Lopez has been promoted and district staff completed interviews for a replacement; the superintendent said the current SRO will assist with transition when school resumes. He also detailed preschool visits (Antonio del Bono site) and a two‑day leadership retreat at South Valley Middle School where administrators reviewed goals, data and operational procedures.
On staffing, Munshi flagged vacancies across operational and instructional roles—bus drivers, HVAC positions, substitutes and paraprofessionals—and promoted an Aug. 13 classified job fair the district is hosting. He also previewed new‑teacher orientation on Aug. 14 and the district kickoff at Christopher High on Aug. 19.
Munshi framed these efforts as part of the district’s strategy to "grow our own" staff and improve supports for classrooms: he described tours of other districts’ innovation campuses to inform future facility planning and said the district will continue follow‑up planning and recruitment through August.
