Commission approves ADA Marathon alcohol license, appropriations and routine payments

During a public hearing, the commission received an alcohol license application from YAMM, INC., doing business as ADA Marathon at 493 Old US Highway 331 in Ramer. No members of the public spoke; the commission voted to approve the Retail Beer (off-premises) and Retail Table Wine (off-premises) licenses. Becki Connally and Shannon Morrell from the Alabama Kidney Foundation briefed the commission and requested funding; Commissioners Harris, Sankey and Castanza each appropriated $2,000 from their Designated Revenue accounts, according to the minutes.
The Commission also audited and ordered paid accounts payable checks dated March 14 and March 21, 2025, showing totals of $1,674,655.90 and $2,933,238.79, respectively. Payroll totals for the period included $2,400,558.49 in combined checks and direct deposits. The commission approved the related motions.
Travel and training requests were approved, including a registration and travel package for the National Organization of Black County Officials (NOBCO) conference with travelers listed as Carmen Moore-Zeigler, Isaiah Sankey, Kindell Anderson and Regina Walker. The meeting record lists line-item estimates (registration, hotel, meals, mileage) and fund codes for the requests.
Minutes of the March 18, 2025 meeting were approved earlier in the session, and the meeting adjourned at 10:35 a.m.
