The West Orange Board of Education on Jan. 6 elected Brian Rock as board president and Maria Vera as vice president during its annual reorganization meeting.
Trinea Lampkin, assistant business administrator and acting board secretary, opened the meeting, read the public-notice required by the New Jersey Open Public Meetings Law and announced the official results of the Nov. 4, 2025 school election. Dr. Dea Bryant and Robert Iffker were sworn in to three-year terms.
A board member nominated Brian Rock for president; the nomination was seconded and the board conducted a roll-call vote that resulted in Rock being elected president. The board then nominated and voted to seat Maria Vera as vice president.
After the elections, the newly seated president thanked his colleagues for their support and outlined recent district priorities, citing universal pre-K expansion, facility investments and work on curriculum and instruction. He said he looks forward to continuing those initiatives alongside Superintendent Moore.
The board also called attention to its code-of-ethics requirement and moved to approve a package of reorganization resolutions. The motion was seconded, the roll call was taken and the reorganization resolutions were approved.
The meeting adjourned after routine closing motions.
