Elizabeth board honors retiring CIO Alberto Marsal and outgoing president Stanley Naran

The Elizabeth Board of Education used its Dec. 18 meeting to honor two long‑serving district leaders. The board presented a tribute and a formal resolution recognizing Alberto Marsal for 30 years in the district technology department, and it read and approved a resolution honoring Board President Stanley J. Naran for 12 years of service.
Superintendent Dr. Hugo Meyer and other administrators credited Marsal with guiding major technology initiatives, including districtwide PowerSchool implementation, fiber optics upgrades, I LEAP media centers and the district’s 1:1 device program. Board materials and speakers noted that Marsal’s tenure began Oct. 1, 1995 and that his retirement is effective Jan. 1, 2026. The board said a copy of the resolution will be presented to Marsal and placed in the official minutes.
The board also viewed a highlights video and read a resolution recognizing Stanley J. Naran’s leadership as a two‑time board president and for work on graduation policy, athletics and arts facilities, and school safety partnerships. In remarks during the meeting President Naran reflected on the collective work of the district and thanked staff, students and colleagues for their support.
Both resolutions were read into the record, the board invited honorees and their families to the front of the stage for photographs, and members offered personal remarks and best wishes.
