Council approves event security contract, first reading of delivery-fee ordinance

The Long Beach City Council approved several procurement items on April 14: a contract with Contemporary Services Corporation for event security services (annual amount not to exceed $3,000,000) covering special events, concerts at the Long Beach Amphitheater and events on the Queen Mary campus; and it read for first hearing an ordinance amending Chapter 5.95 relating to third-party food delivery service fees.
Staff described the security contract as necessary to support city-produced special events and the amphitheater’s operations. There was no public comment on the security item. The delivery-fee ordinance was read for the first time and laid over to the next regular meeting for final reading.
Both items proceeded with council approval; staff will return with final contract documents and the ordinance will return for its required second reading.
