At the Committee of the Whole, Interim Superintendent Brett Blushmit previewed three policy items that will be presented as second readings for final action at the board's April meeting.
Blushmit said Policy 2108 — the district's learning assistance program policy tied to a state grant — will remove a paragraph related to COVID-era state-of-emergency expectations that have expired. He described the change as a straightforward cleanup.
On Policy 2140, relating to guidance counseling, Blushmit said the recommended revision updates the nondiscrimination statement to align with current state law. On Policy 6220, he said the administration proposes updating bid amounts in district procurement policy to be consistent with new federal rules and regulations governing the use of federal funds.
Blushmit also reported that two instructional-material titles were reviewed by the instructional materials committee and that neither contained challenging content. Finally, he said the board will bring a routine resolution to reaffirm membership in the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA), noting this is an annual procedural step.
Director Smith closed the brief meeting by reminding directors these are previews for the April 14 regular meeting and by asking for agenda suggestions ahead of an April 28 workshop; she then adjourned the committee at 05:39.
