Board approves 25-member community facilities task force to produce long-range plan by September

The Richland School District board voted to approve a community facilities task force charge after a presentation by a consultant from Concertis and district staff.
Wade Smith of Concertis described a six-phase process he said would produce a long-range facilities plan with recommendations and prioritizations by September 2026. The process includes establishing a broadly representative 25-member task force, conducting technical analysis and deep community engagement, iterating concept options and returning recommendations to the board.
Assistant Superintendent Gosney and consultant Wade Smith said staff will advertise committee openings, launch a facilities-planning website, and accept applications (target deadline around March 18) to recruit people with facilities or financial expertise, parents, staff and community partners.
A board member moved to approve the charge, another seconded, and the motion passed in the board vote recorded during the meeting.
Next steps: if approved, staff said they plan to advertise this week, recruit a representative committee, hold roughly one or two meetings per month over a seven-month timeline and return concept recommendations to the board in September.
