The Absecon City Council voted to introduce a 2026 ordinance that would amend the city’s rental-housing code to address lead-paint inspections, the chair said.
The chair summarized the measure as primarily concerning lead-paint inspections and said the city’s new zoning official is updating the code book; the council moved and seconded introduction. The chair said the ordinance will be posted and published and that a public hearing, second reading and final reading are scheduled for Feb. 5, 2026.
No public commentators spoke on the ordinance at the meeting. Council did not debate technical details of the inspection standards at this session; staff was expected to bring code updates forward as the zoning official completes the review.
