Summary
The committee voted to approve an annexation agreement for a 13‑acre property at Irene and Hockey roads (to be recorded as Rush Power Systems LLC), including staff‑recommended deviations for industrial lot standards; motions to approve the agreement and to annex the territory passed.
The Committee of the Whole on April 13 voted to approve an annexation agreement and to annex a 13‑acre property at 1014 Irene Road, adjacent to the Belford Industrial Park.
Community Development Planner Gina Delrose said the parcel is contiguous to previously annexed industrial properties and noted the applicant requested deviations from city standards for driveway width, landscaping, fencing and outdoor storage screening to align development with adjacent county industrial park conditions. Delrose said staff recommended approval of the annexation agreement.
The mayor asked for a motion and Alderman Peterson moved—seconded by Alderman Stevens—to approve the annexation agreement between the city and the applicant and to annex the territory. When Mayor Morris noted that the ordinance will show Rush Power Systems LLC as the contracting party, council members agreed and the committee approved both motions by voice vote.
Council discussion acknowledged that the annexation will allow the property to access city water and sewer and noted business expansion (the applicant said the company has outgrown its current site). The annexation will return to council in ordinance form for final action.
