Cramerton approves easement and encroachment agreements for downtown park expansion

The Town of Cramerton’s board voted Aug. 19 to approve a series of agreements to support a downtown park expansion tied to parcel ID #195741.
Town Attorney Kevin Bringewatt Wolter told the board he had worked with the buyer’s attorney to prepare closing documents and explained contract provisions addressing phasing of parking-lot paving during renovation of the Masonic Lodge. The board discussed allowing the buyer to display conceptual drawings at the Goat Island Games on Aug. 28 while noting the Masons retain ownership of the building until Aug. 29.
Attorney Bringewatt said the buyer would be responsible for repairs if construction damaged the parking lot, and that steps at the front of the building would be covered by mutual indemnity for guests. Commissioner Helms moved to approve the downtown park expansion agreements and to authorize the Town Manager and Town Attorney to make contract adjustments as needed; the motion passed 5–0.
Staff noted the final paving topcoat could be deferred until after the buyer’s renovations to avoid construction damage, and the town and buyer would coordinate on signage and public display of the project’s conceptual drawings.
