The Nashville City Council recessed into a closed session to discuss labor negotiations with the Municipal Employees Association, the city attorney said.
The chair called the meeting to order and explained that the session was being webcast and that members of the public could submit comments in the chamber, on a salmon-colored speaker slip, or by email no later than four hours before the meeting. Clerk roll call recorded Council member Rodriguez present, noted Council members Molina and Bush absent, and indicated Mayor Yamani was present while Mayor Morrison was not, establishing a quorum.
The chair then asked for public comment on the closed-session item; the clerk said there were none. The chair moved to convene the closed session and turned the floor to the city attorney, who stated, "We have one matter for closed session. It's involving conference with labor negotiators. The employee organization involved is MEA, the Municipal Employees Association." The city attorney identified the agency's designated representatives as the city manager, Martinez, the city attorney, and Lydia Flores Hernandez, human resources director.
After the closed session, the chair announced the council had come out of closed session and said a report-out would be made at the end of the regular meeting. The council then adjourned.
No formal votes or motions on the closed-session matter were recorded in the meeting transcript provided.
