Oak Grove details rollout of newly adopted Envision math curriculum and early diagnostic results

At the Nov. 14 meeting Assistant Superintendent Janae Ingram told the board that Oak Grove School District began implementation of the Envision mathematics curriculum this school year after a May adoption. Ingram outlined program-activation training conducted in August, a three-hour professional-development day on Nov. 1 and ongoing supports for teachers and multilingual learners.

"High-quality instructional materials make a difference for teaching and learning," Ingram said, explaining the curriculum emphasizes productive struggle, academic discourse and explicit math vocabulary. She described unit-level STEM projects, manipulatives for classroom use, and digital resources that include Spanish-language family pages and tutorial videos.

Ingram presented early diagnostic data. She said elementary iReady results showed about 25% of students meeting or exceeding standards and that the initial Envision diagnostic for middle school showed roughly 28% at or above standards; the district plans to report consolidated iReady and MDSA results in January after the next assessment window.

Ingram described built-in teacher tools such as quick checks that feed student groupings in real time and a teacher dashboard that integrates assessments with lesson planning. She said sites also have funding for targeted after-school intervention, Saturday Academies and an Elevate summer-math partnership with the Silicon Valley Education Foundation.

Board members asked about assessment cadence and how the district will track progress. Ingram said diagnostics have three windows aligned to iReady and that screeners are shorter; she committed to providing specifics on screener frequency and administration details in a future report.

The board thanked staff for the update and asked the district to return with more complete assessment data in January.
