Village installs engineered pedestrian bridge near Boy Scout crossing; MRGCD assisted

Public works and the police chief reported the village acquired and installed a fully engineered bridge near the existing Boy Scout bridge.
Chief Martinez said the bridge — obtained after being stored at the landfill and fully engineered — was installed with help from the Middle Rio Grande Conservancy District (MRGCD), which provided abutments and engineering. The village budget for the project was about $25,000; final invoices for concrete, rock and conservancy materials were pending.
The bridge is roughly 100–200 feet north of the existing structure, required minimal vegetation removal, is about 4 feet wide and carries an approximate load rating of 6,000 pounds, Chief Martinez said. The existing Boy Scout bridge will be demolished after mobilization of equipment. Council and staff welcomed public use of the new structure.
Administrator Curry and staff said the bridge does not require additional action at the council level beyond final invoice approvals and thanked MRGCD for assistance.
