Board approves consent agenda items including finance, facilities and personnel; lunch debt reported at $121,685.38

The Jackson Township Board of Education approved a series of consent items across finance, facilities, programs, student and personnel categories.

Under finance, the board approved items 1—12, including the surplus declaration for a wrestling mat (staff said a buyer from Illinois will pick it up) and an IT-equipment surplus procedure (district will use a vendor to assess resale value or handle recycling). Business-office staff answered questions about surplus valuation and explained the trade-off between multiple vendor assessments and the labor intensity of that process.

Business staff reported the district'9s outstanding lunch balance is $121,685.38, down roughly $13,000 from July to August. The board expressed appreciation for payments and donations that reduced the balance; no additional action was taken at the meeting beyond noting the decrease.

The board authorized the administration to issue a request for proposals (RFP) for bond advisory services, with staff indicating the district anticipates possibly hiring a firm by the November board meeting.

Facilities items 1— were approved; discussion clarified that a bookkeeper/facility scheduler (Maria Roberts) is part of the business office and that some facility uses have no cost because they involve staff or student programs. Programs items 1', students items 1— and personnel items 1—9 (including numerous volunteers) were also approved; the personnel motion recorded one abstention on an item and otherwise carried by roll call.
