Resident asks board to help bring memorial scholarship to Niskayuna students

Tammy J. Beck used the privilege of the floor to press the board to help the Susan Centran Memorial Scholarship Foundation enter the district’s senior-scholarship program. Beck told the board she represents someone who set up the foundation in memory of his deceased wife, that the foundation fundraises year-round, and that every child who applies can receive an award. She said the foundation requests an in-person meeting with each applicant because, in her words, "sometimes that's the only time anyone's really asking that kid how are you doing." Beck said prior outreach over several years had stalled and asked the board to help connect the foundation with district contacts.
A staff member at the meeting told Beck to get in touch with the district as the next step.
