Fanwood council adopts updated flood-damage prevention ordinance on second reading

On Feb. 18 the Fanwood Borough Council held a public hearing and adopted Ordinance O-2025-01-R on second reading. The clerk read the ordinance by title: it repeals chapter 2-57 (flood damage prevention), adopts new flood-hazard maps and designates a floodplain administrator.
The council opened the hearing and invited public comment; none was offered. A council member moved adoption on second reading and the clerk recorded a roll-call vote resulting in the ordinance’s adoption. The clerk and council noted the changes were largely editorial to satisfy the Department of Environmental Protection; the governing body said there were no substantive changes to local policy.
The ordinance will be published as required by law and recorded in the meeting minutes. Council did not specify an effective date beyond the usual publication and filing requirements associated with second-reading adoptions.
