Assembly sets calendar, calls committees and lists two Rules reports for debate

During opening floor business on March 30, 2026, Assembly member Miss People Stokes outlined the day’s agenda and called for a series of committee meetings to consider bills and reports.
"Colleagues and guests that are in our chambers, I'd like to share this quote with you today... Madam Speaker, colleagues have on their desk a main calendar as well as a debate list," Miss People Stokes said, describing the schedule and saying the Ways and Means and Rules committees would produce an aid calendar to be taken up that day. She named Rules report number 8 by Miss Simon and Rules report number 69 by Mister Bronson as items to be debated.
The Speaker asked Ways and Means Committee members to meet Chair Petlow in the Speaker's Conference Room and asked members to proceed quietly. Later floor procedure included a motion by Miss People Stokes to dispense with the further reading of the journal for Monday, March 30; the motion was approved "without objection," the Speaker recorded.
Before committee work began, Miss People Stokes asked the Speaker to keep the house "at ease" until committees completed their work; the Speaker announced the motion to stand the house at ease, pausing floor business while committees met.
No roll-call votes on bills were recorded in the opening proceedings. The Rules reports named for debate (No. 8 by Miss Simon and No. 69 by Mister Bronson) were announced for later consideration on the day's calendar.
