The City of Athens has installed modular restroom units at West State Street Park, the mayor said, to meet heavy demand from athletic leagues, Sandlot softball and other activities at the ball fields and soccer fields.
The mayor reported crews placed the units on a prepared slab and completed plumbing and electrical work; he said the restrooms may already be functional. The units replace frequent use of portable toilets and are intended to improve convenience and sanitation during peak weekends.
No contractor or project cost was announced on the broadcast. The mayor thanked city staff for arranging installation and asked residents to take advantage of the new facilities.
