Lincoln County authorizes Workforce director to seek new credit-card offers with $4,000 cap

The Lincoln County Board of Commissioners on Feb. 17 authorized Workforce Director Brooke Parker to seek new credit-card offers for the LC Workforce program with a maximum credit limit of $4,000.
Brooke Parker told the Board the workforce department routinely charges amounts substantially larger than most other departments and has experienced late fees when month-end balances were not paid in full. Treasurer Shawn Frehner told commissioners the county-guaranteed Wells Fargo credit line is maxed and the county has no available credit there. Recorder/Auditor Amy Elmer explained the spending profile difference between smaller monthly charges and the workforce program’s larger monthly expenditures.
On a motion by Commissioner Mike Reese, seconded by Commissioner Diane Path, the Board authorized Brooke to seek competitive offers from other credit-card companies with a limit not to exceed $4,000. The motion passed unanimously. The Board did not specify the preferred issuer or changes to county-guarantee arrangements; Brooke was directed to report back with options.
Next steps noted in the meeting record: Brooke will seek offers and return with recommendations so the Board can consider any administrative or budget adjustments required to support a new credit arrangement.
