Planning commission grants second extension for All Points Grill landscaping

The Fernley Planning Commission voted March 11 to grant a second extension for required landscaping at the property formerly known as Pizza Shack (now doing business as All Points Grill). Assistant Planner Lisa Warner said the applicant has completed hardscape, a split‑rail fence and irrigation but requested more time to avoid spring frost that could harm new plantings.

Commissioners discussed prior extensions and whether to grant longer periods initially to avoid repeated requests. Warner said the second extension request was submitted before the previous deadline and is consistent with the city’s master plan and municipal code. Commissioner Flores moved to approve the extension and Commissioner Lewis seconded; the motion passed by the commission.

The extension sets the new landscaping completion date to June 30, 2026. Warner noted the applicant had previously been given a deadline of Feb. 13, 2026 after an earlier extension; the staff report recommends granting the requested additional time so plantings can survive Northern Nevada’s late‑spring frosts.

The commission recorded a member disclosure: one commissioner disclosed work for a brokerage owned by an owner of the building and offered to abstain; the city attorney advised that disclosure was sufficient and abstention was optional. The motion passed and staff will update the file to reflect the extension and keep the commission informed of completion status.
