District outlines capital projects — generators, freezers, stadium lights and uniform cycles

Facilities and athletics staff presented a multi-year capital and equipment plan that pairs deferred-maintenance projects with routine replacement cycles.

Facilities: The maintenance lead said several large systems are reaching end of life. The elementary freezer compressor (original unit cited as 1973) and the high-school freezer (1999) will likely need replacement; staff estimated roughly $50,000 per compressor. The elementary generator is old and has limited capacity; staff described a possible multi-month project to upgrade generator capacity so the district can power technology in a prolonged outage. Other items included roof work (the maintenance-shed recoating estimate moved from an earlier figure of $35,000 toward a current estimate near $85,000), parking-lot cameras, auditorium sound and lighting upgrades and various equipment replacements (tractors, stage curtains, bathroom stalls).

Athletics: Athletics staff reviewed uniform-replacement cycles and rising participation in some sports (e.g., middle-school track; a split of middle-school soccer into girls/boys teams). Budget estimates included about $13,000 for uniforms in fiscal 2027, rising in subsequent years, plus continuing payments on stadium lights and planned equipment work (backstops, press-box floor, weight‑room upgrades). The athletics presenter noted the district aims to spread purchases across years to avoid a single large outlay.
