District plans major tech refresh, citing E‑Rate funds and cybersecurity upgrades

She outlined recent cybersecurity work (multi-factor authentication, endpoint response, immutable backups) and said centralized purchasing helps ensure pricing and interoperability across buildings.
Planned projects include a voice-over-IP phone-system upgrade expected to be chosen and purchased within the next three to four weeks, and a full network refresh (switches and access points) next fiscal year. Nicole said the district expects an upcoming E‑Rate category‑2 allocation (the five-year refresh window) that would yield roughly $170,000; because of the district's E‑Rate discount rate the district would be responsible for about 40% of the non‑discounted cost when buying equipment.
Nicole said instructional and administrative software costs are budgeted and that device-refresh cycles are planned to keep per-year spending relatively flat; she noted purchases of student devices are already locked in for next year but cautioned about a global chip shortage leading to increasing device prices.
