Resident asks Wyoming council to ban snowmobiles inside city limits

Mike Standridge, who identified himself as a Wyoming resident of 40 years, told the council that snowmobile riders repeatedly drive off posted roadways into easements and private yards, sometimes as late as 2 a.m., and asked the city to ban snowmobiles within city limits.
"I'm here tonight to ask that ... ban them from within the city area," Standridge said, adding that while he likes snowmobiles and has owned them, the behavior has become "ridiculous." He gave examples of riders coming into yards after only 2 or 3 inches of snow.
The meeting chair asked city staff to respond. Mister Linwood said the city already has certain regulations governing snowmobile operation and offered to put the topic on a future council agenda to review what the court or ordinance allows and whether changes are appropriate.
No ordinance change was proposed or adopted at the meeting; staff offered to return with options and clarifying information for council consideration.
