Commission approves hires, promotions, board appointments and proclaims April Child Abuse Awareness Month

On March 23 the Iron County Commission approved a slate of personnel actions, board appointments and a proclamation to declare April as Child Abuse Awareness Month.

Human Resources Director Jennifer Bradbury presented several personnel items: new hires (deputies for patrol and corrections, a sign technician and an IT technician), promotions within the Sheriff's Department, and the modification of the Community Wildfire Specialist position description to include Public Information Officer duties for Cassie Meredith along with a pay‑scale adjustment. Kenneth Robinson moved to approve the personnel changes; the motion passed unanimously.

Commissioners also approved the appointment of Don Williams to the Iron County Weed Board and a slate of members to the Cedar City & Iron County Economic Development Committee and the Iron County Economic Opportunity Advisory Board. David Johnson explained the advisory boards' responsibilities. Separately, Commissioner Michael Bleak introduced Proclamation 2026‑3 to declare April as Child Abuse Awareness Month and noted Child Abuse Utah will expand outreach into Iron County; the commission approved the proclamation unanimously.

All motions recorded in the meeting carried unanimous recorded votes (Michael Bleak, Aye; Paul Cozzens, Aye; Kenneth Robinson, Aye). Staff will proceed with onboarding and make any position‑description changes effective on the dates presented at the meeting.
