Tourism board ratifies $145,161.91 in bills; member abstains on Bath Lumber payment

The White Pine County Tourism and Recreation Board on Feb. 25 ratified payment of checks numbered 12352 through 12391 totaling $145,161.91 and later approved payment to Bath Lumber with one abstention.

Director Kyle Horvath explained that one reimbursement on the bills was for a nine‑month room‑tax reimbursement program: "Per our policy, if that person can show that they have paid room tax for nine months consecutively in a motel room that is not suitable for long‑term rental, then they are eligible for reimbursement," Horvath said. He also clarified that "ORF" stands for an outdoor recreation facility grant reimbursement and that LG Tree Services was paid for snow removal at the center parking area and the Lyons building parking lots, with hand shoveling limited to the north side.

Member Jason Bath moved to pay the batch of checks but asked that the Bath Lumber bill (check no. 12361) be excluded; the motion carried. Later, Member Janet VanCamp moved to pay Bath Lumber; Member Mary Valencia seconded. Member Bath disclosed a family interest in Bath Lumber and abstained; the minutes record the motion as carried with one abstention.

The board recorded routine procedural approvals earlier in the meeting: the agenda and the Jan. 28, 2025 minutes were approved without recorded dissents. The meeting adjourned at 4:43 p.m.

The payments approved included grant reimbursements and routine operations expenses; Director Horvath noted partial reimbursements have been received for the board's Travel Nevada grants. The minutes list a range of items in the director's report that the board reviewed but did not convert into formal actions during this meeting.
