Great Basin National Park briefs White Pine tourism board on Lehman Caves repairs and youth program

Ashley Adams, representing Great Basin National Park, updated the White Pine County Tourism and Recreation Board on park operations and public programs during the Feb. 25 public-comment period.
Adams said electrical replacement at Lehman Caves is underway and that a partial reopening is expected for the Memorial Day weekend. She said a prescribed fire in Kanyong Canyon was completed to support habitat restoration.
Adams also announced that the concession contract for the Great Basin Café is open for proposals, with a due date of March 25, and that a new cave simulation trailer program designed for youth engagement launches March 21.
Board members acknowledged the updates. No formal action was taken by the board on the park items during the meeting.
