Transportation is a central operational issue. Staff told the board that an 08:30 tentative start time is being explored and that transportation has confirmed route planning such that routes would be in place by April 17. A board member stressed that morning supervision is “paramount” and requested concrete information on gate opening times, staff capacity to receive students 90 minutes before start, and any cost implications for providing expanded supervision.
Board members also urged coordination with the city on traffic signals, crossing guards, and bus timing to mitigate traffic changes caused by a new bell schedule. Staff committed to gathering family‑level data and to return with a comprehensive plan laying out supervision, staffing and projected costs.
