County opens bids for road equipment, approves seasonal hiring posting

Monona County’s Secondary Roads office opened several equipment bids at the April 7 meeting and will prepare bid-tabulations before awarding contracts. Bids read into the record included: two bids for McNeill Drainage culverts (Metal Culverts $108,147.20; Leymaster Tile $143,634.50); four excavator bids (Sooland Bobcat $118,113.56 for a Bobcat E88R2; Murphy Tractor $130,800 for a John Deere 75P; RMS $126,995 for a Komatsu PC88MR; Ziegler Cat $121,324.87 for a Cat 308CR); and motor grader bids (Murphy Tractor $427,800 for a John Deere 772P and $415,800 for a John Deere 672P; Ziegler Cat $489,973.75 for a Cat 140AWD). The board did not award equipment at the meeting; staff will prepare a bid tab for further action.
While the equipment bids were read, the board approved an external posting for seasonal Secondary Roads employment. The bid openings and the hiring-post decision were recorded by Secondary Roads Office Manager Deleta Huffman and county staff in attendance. The board reviewed the Secondary Roads budget later in the meeting but took no action on the budget at that time.
