Monona County board approves $215,322.89 sealcoating contract, solicits bridge inspection bids and OKs GPS agreement

Monona County Supervisors on March 31 approved several road and equipment actions aimed at maintaining county infrastructure.
Supervisor Tom Brouillette moved—and Supervisor Vince Phillips seconded—the board’s approval to solicit and accept quotes for Bridge Inspection Services. The board also approved a contract with Midwest Coatings to sealcoat various county roads for $215,322.89; the motion carried unanimously. The board additionally authorized external posting for an Operator II position at the Onawa shop to fill staffing needs for road operations.
Later in the meeting the board authorized the chairman’s signature on a contract with Verizon for a GPS tracker to monitor county vehicles; that authorization was approved by unanimous vote. A separate administrative motion tabled scheduling interviews for a Superintendent position.
Several of these items were procedural or solicitations (bridge inspection quotes) rather than final procurements; the board recorded roll-call confirmations of approvals where required. Building-repair bids related to a June 2024 hailstorm were opened for tabulation and will be evaluated at a later meeting.
