Councilman Joe Mendoza opened the item by urging Lyle to resign and by reading a resolution that said Lyle’s conduct, "including his recent arrest, repeated outburst during public meetings, has reflected poorly on the city of Fernley and undermine[d] the trust and confidence of its citizens," and moved to censure. Councilman Torres seconded the motion. After discussion, the mayor announced the motion carried by a 3–1 vote with one abstention; the mayor then read the list of committees from which Lyle will be removed.
