Oscoda County commissioners approve remonumentation contracts, personnel actions and reimbursements

The Oscoda County Board of Commissioners approved a slate of routine motions during its May 27, 2025 regular meeting, including remonumentation contracts, personnel actions and grant reimbursements.
The board voted unanimously to continue the appointment of Oscoda County Treasurer William M. Kendall as the Remonumentation Grant Administrator as required by the Michigan Remonumentation Statute and to approve remonumentation contracts with Rowe/Myers, J. Card Surveying, LLC, and Herman, Huron Engineering & Surveying, Inc. The board also appointed a Remonumentation Peer Review Group of professional surveyors (motions 2025-146, 2025-147, 2025-148). The motions were moved and seconded and passed by recorded votes.
Other personnel and administrative measures approved included acknowledgment of several seasonal hires for the Historical Commission—Aiden Barajas, Jaime Abbe and Brena Rondo—with start dates and hourly wages noted in the motions (motions 2025-152, 2025-153, 2025-154). The board acknowledged the resignation of dispatcher Amy Corbett (motion 2025-155) and re-appointed Debra Ames and Laura Kendall to the Jury Board for six-year terms (motions 2025-156, 2025-157).
The board set the Jury Board per diems at $75 for a half day and $125 for a full day, effective May 1, 2025 (motion 2025-158). It also acknowledged temporary wage increases for two District Court employees—Elizabeth Reed (from $18.59 to $19.59) and Chelsea Butler (from $19.27 to $20.27)—effective May 5 through July 1, 2025 (motions 2025-159, 2025-160).
On grants and reimbursements, the board approved payments to Big Creek Township related to the EGLE Rural Electronics Recycling Grant: up to $200 for reimbursement of expenses and up to $500 at $0.50 per tire for the county tire-recycling event (motions 2025-161, 2025-162). The Claims and Audit Docket for May 27, 2025, totaling $38,449.82, was approved as presented.
