At the regular meeting, the board approved a series of consent items announced by the chair. The motion to pay the district’s bills was made and passed. The board also voted to approve the science curriculum recommended by the Science Instructional Materials Adoption Committee: ‘‘Collaborate Science’’ for K–8 and McGraw Hill’s ‘‘Inspire Science’’ for grades 9–12.
The board approved authorizing the sale of a surplus John Deere tractor and accepted a $5,000 donation intended for Ocean Crest staff. District staff described the intended uses for the donation, noting a $50 maximum per employee restriction on individual purchases and plans to spend some of the funds on staff jackets, a staff lunch and chair massages on in-service days; roughly half of the donation will be reserved for use in the following year.
Several community flyers and event notices in the board packet were approved as part of the consent agenda. The votes were announced as passed in the meeting audio; the transcript records the votes as passed but does not include a read-out roll-call tally.
What happens next: Curriculum adoption follows the committee’s recommendation and will move forward per district process; staff will handle disposition and sale of surplus equipment and will implement the donor restrictions described at the meeting.
