County approves Best In The Desert’s use of Esmeralda County roads for Silver State 300

Megan Cleve, representing Best in the Desert Racing Association, requested permission to use designated Esmeralda County roads for the 2026 Silver State 300 (April 22–25, 2026). Cleve said the event is annual and that the association had coordinated the proposed route with the county roads department. County staff (Carl Shrider) flagged no issues with the route in the packet.
Commissioner Rachel Holt moved to approve the race as presented; Commissioner Mary Jane Zakas seconded and the motion carried unanimously. The county will coordinate with the event organizer on any road-use conditions and finalize any required agreements.
