Allendale council approves consent agenda, hires planner for fair‑share housing work

At its Dec. 5 meeting the Allendale Borough Council approved the consent agenda that included routine administrative items and a planner hire to assist with fair‑share housing work.
Mayor Amy Wodzinski noted the council is renewing an interlocal court agreement with "Hohokis" for the coming year and said the borough has hired Burgess Associates — and specifically referenced Ed Burgess — to serve as the borough planner and to assist with the borough’s fair‑share housing planning. The mayor described fair‑share housing as a municipality‑wide undertaking and said Burgess will be "an integral part of that team" to help the borough navigate its housing numbers. The consent agenda also included hiring additional dispatchers and approving the final payment for the town’s streetscape project, which the mayor said will be finished before winter.
Councilwoman Hallman moved to approve the consent agenda and the council voted yes on the motion during roll call. The mayor also announced that the borough’s reorganization meeting is scheduled for Jan. 6 and that meetings next year will begin at 07:00 instead of 07:30 as currently scheduled.
Council members did not debate the items at length; the items were treated as routine and enacted in a single motion. The council will follow normal administrative procedures for implementation of the planner contract and staffing changes.
