Council extends compliance deadline one year for Falls Fabricating MIF agreement
Summary

The Little Falls City Council on a unanimous vote adopted Resolution 2026-11 to authorize a one-year extension to the compliance date for a Minnesota Investment Fund (MIF) agreement with Falls Fabricating.
During a staff presentation, a city official corrected two errors in the packet: Falls Fabricating’s starting employee count under the agreement was 83 (not 87), and the company has not received any MIF disbursements to date, so there is no circumstance in which the firm would be required to repay funds; instead any award would be reduced proportionally if employment targets are not met. The staff member said Falls Fabricating added six employees since the agreement and slowed hiring in 2024–25 for strategic reasons tied to tariffs and recessionary conditions.
Council President (presiding) opened and closed the public hearing with no public testimony. After a brief roll call, the council voted to authorize the one-year extension, a move staff said would help the company move closer to the agreed-upon 27-job increase in the original MIF agreement.
The resolution action will extend the compliance date and maintain the original grant terms otherwise; staff did not report specific new milestone dates beyond the one-year extension.
