Lake County commissioners on March 19, 2025, heard that a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) of $1,500,000 has been secured for a new Christmas Valley library and that county staff are moving forward with site planning and engineering.
Commissioner James Williams said the Library Board will schedule public meetings to solicit community input. County Surveyor Darryl Anderson identified the preferred parcel as 87127 Christmas Valley Highway, the site of the Lake County Christmas Valley Office Annex, and shared a conceptual placement drawing. Anderson said the new library would share the parcel with the Annex, and he will take responsibility for the engineering service agreement.
Commissioner Williams told the board the project must be completed within two years of construction start. No construction timeline or contractor selection was finalized at the meeting; the board expects the Library Board and county staff to schedule public meetings and finalize engineering agreements before procurement.
