School board signs off on districtwide CENTEGIX CrisisAlert hardware conversion

The Lamar County School District Board approved a maintenance-acknowledgment with CENTEGIX to convert the district’s CrisisAlert safety badges and supporting hardware from Zigbee to LoRaWAN.
Ross Randall, the district’s director of technology, submitted a memo attached to the board packet explaining that CENTEGIX is migrating customers to the newer equipment and that the district had been asked to complete the maintenance-acknowledgment to begin the conversion. Randall’s memo states, “There is no additional cost to the district for this conversion.” The packet lists 20 sites to be converted.
The motion to approve the acknowledgment was made by Lance LeFan and seconded by Jennie Hensarling; the recorded vote was unanimous (Jordan Carlisle, Shae Farmer, Jennie Hensarling, Lance LeFan, Jared Slade: yea).
Why it matters: the system provides staff with wearable alert badges for school safety; the hardware replacement will affect devices and site infrastructure in all district facilities.
