Conestoga Valley to nominate student representatives for PIAA’s National Student Leadership Summit

Conestoga Valley staff described the National Student Leadership Summit (NSLS) and said the district may nominate students to attend. Mister Hawkins explained that PIAA fully funds Pennsylvania’s representatives and that districts may submit applicants; PIAA then selects a male and female representative from applicant pools.
Hawkins said the district would open applications to juniors and seniors who applied for the district leadership program; advisers will have input into final selections and PIAA will contact selected students. Board members asked whether the program is student‑athlete focused and requested assurances that attendees will meet the district’s field‑trip and behavior standards. Hawkins said adult chaperones will be district‑cleared staff and that the program covers travel, lodging and programming costs. The board asked staff to include the district code of conduct when the item returns for any recruitment approval.
